We have all heard of Wikipedia, the free online open and editable encyclopedia. We have also seen and heard of the concerns about this resource and the validity of the information it contains. But there is so much more to the wikimedia foundation

What is Wikimedia foundation?
Well this is it http://www.wikimedia.org/ It is the focus or the center of all the different "wikiprojects"

Wikimedia has a number of wiki projects that are well worth visiting. Here is a brief outline of them

Wikipedia

http://www.wikipedia.org/. This is the free online encyclopedia that everyone has heard of and no-one is completely sure about. They have of late been very rigirous in updating and validating the information held here.

There are over 1.5 million resources. This is a great resource for teachers and students.

Wikispecies has over 100,000 entries covering species across the spectrum of life. This is a great tool for the biologist and scientist. The kingdoms covered include:

This is the online school or university. This is an interesting site with some good material available on it. It covers a diverse range of subjects and is well worth a visit. Like all wiki products its still "under construction"

Its fair to say there is a lot more to the wikimedia foundation than meets the eye at first glance.
